SENIOR DIRECTOR-PROTEIN CHEMISTRY


1. Manage the daily operations of Protein Chemistry Department.
2. Develop and optimize new products and processes in Protein Chemistry.
3. Manage resources including personnel and material.
4. Supervise and train department personnel to achieve company goals.
5. Direct and execute scientific projects in support of company objectives.
6. Establish and maintain timelines for multiple projects.
7. Design scientific experiments to achieve project objectives.
8. Evaluate test data and determine the next step required.
9. Project management of new product development in collaboration with relevant development departments.
10. Provide oral and written reports as needed.
11. Establish and maintain budget.
12. Coordinate the introduction and transfer of new technologies to appropriate departments.
13. Provide technical support to Marketing and other departments as needed for customer training and workshops.
14. Initiate and participate in technical staff hiring decisions, goal setting, performance monitoring and review, and disciplinary action when required.
15. Collaborate with other R&D managers and the R&D Director in setting/achieving department performance goals and implementing process improvements, cGMP and other quality initiatives.
16. Effectively interface and collaborate with all departments within the company to ensure that the Company’s vision, mission, goals and priorities are achieved.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

1. Ph.D. in Biological Science with 2 years experience or M.S. in Biological Science with 3-5 years experience or B.S. in Biological Science with 5-7 years experience under industrial setting.
2. Minimum three years experience in assay and protein development in a biomedical/ immuno-diagnostics industrial setting.
3. Experience in protein/antibody purification, affinity chromatography, ion-exchange, protein conjugation, recombinant protein expression/purification, cell culture.
4. Experience with ELISA, cell-based assays, and enzymatic assays.
5. New product development and transfer experience.
6. Minimum three years personnel training and supervisory experience.
7. Multi-tasked oriented with project management experience.
8. Excellent organizing, planning, and scheduling abilities.
9. Problem solving assay inadequacies.
10. Ability to organize, work independently, and adapt to changing priorities - flexibility.
11. Willingness to take and give direction.
12. Willingness to work diverse shifts and overtime, as required.
13. Familiarity with working in a regulated environment. (CLIA, GMP, QSR, ISO or other)
14. Some understanding of budget preparation, goal setting and performance monitoring processes.
