Cell Culture Sr. Manager
Description:
This is an advanced level position of responsibility that entails significant
technical independence and the ability to execute and coach others in virtually
all cell culture operations. This individual will possess a significant body
of knowledge and experience with respect to cell culture scale-up operations,
both operationally and technically. They will also be expected to represent
the cell culture operations group in strategic and planning meetings with other
groups within and the company.
This position will contribute to the production of recombinant proteins and
antibodies expressed via CHO cells. The primary objectives for this position
are the performance of technical operations and to assist in the leadership
of the operations staff, specifically as it relates to the execution of process
development and scale-up studies. The candidate will also possess a solid understanding
and an appreciation for the manufacturing environment and requirements needed
to transfer these processes to a clinical or commercial scale operation. The
individual will also need strong communication and computer skills.
Requirements:
BS/BA in a related scientific discipline such as engineering or biological sciences.
Other candidates may have a background in a specialized biotechnology training/certification
program. The candidate should have a minimum of five years of hands-on large-scale
experience and will have demonstrated several if not all of the core competencies
associated with cell culture operations. The ideal candidate will have a broad
level of experiences that includes tissue culture techniques, large-scale bioreactor
operations, and downstream cell separation methods. Additionally, the candidate
will also have demonstrated strong leadership abilities and have demonstrated
the ability to execute detailed planning and allocate resources accordingly
to handle multiple projects concurrently. An advanced understanding of control
systems and how they behave coupled with a very strong computer aptitude is
crucial for this position. The candidate will also have demonstrated a high
level of appreciation and understanding for the constraints and special requirements
that are needed for clinical and commercial scale operations and exhibit a keen
awareness to these needs. They must be able to effectively interact in a dynamic
